Lead in concentrations exceeding a state action level were discovered in Parchment’s municipal drinking water during tests that were conducted during the first half of 2019.
The Hydrogeologic Investigation, carried out by Georgia Pacific and Tetra Tech and overseen by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, has been collecting water samples for the first set of monitor wells that have been installed at the paper mill; there are at least 12 more wells to be installed.
Now we are learning another company made contact with the city stating that they would be interested in moving their manufacturing operations to the mill site. That company is Long Falls Paperboard.
