The State of Michigan has joined a bi-partisan effort urging Apple and Google to ensure that all contact tracing apps serve an actual "public health purpose.
Using new expanded reporting criteria that allow more deaths to be attributed even in part to the virus, the state puts that at 5,491. That’s .055%, or well under 6 one-hundredths of one percent, of Michigan’s population.
Our unfunded liability for Michigan’s defined benefit pension system, which again it is important to note was closed to new hires in 1997, went from zero to over $6.5 billion as of today.
How did that happen?
For some it was a source of pride; for others, not so much. Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer has vetoed the "Pure Michigan" promotional campaign, saying it is hard to tell if the $35 million dollar ad campaign is making any difference promoting tourism in the state.
The end of today is the deadline for filing for a home heating credit with the state of Michigan. While most don't bother with it, the state says the average credit this year, of those applications processed, is $195.
The State of Michigan is ranked fourth for "creating and delivering citizen-centric services across digital platforms" by a group that ranks these kind of things.
It's a cheap joke, that if the government shuts down, we all win. Because the people shutting it down, the legislators and lawmakers, they're fine. It's the folks that actually work for a living who are furloughed, and that can be a problem.
I'm looking at the list of things that the State of Michigan is auctioning off this weekend, and I'm wondering why they even have some of these items. It's the STATE. Why?
