The Tigers mustered only 4 hits in their 11-2 loss to the White Sox. Tyler Collins led off the second inning with a solo shot to right center field. Things got a little scary in the bottom half of the inning for starter Matthew Boyd, as the Sox sent 8 men to the plate but scored just 2 while leaving the bases loaded after a big strike out of Jose' Abreu. In the bottom of the third it was more of the same, as Boyd allowed a single, wild pitch, walk, and a line drive 3-run homer to left by Geovany Soto to put the Sox up 5-1 which spelled the end for Boyd as he exits after just 2 1/3 innings. The Sox added 4 more in the fourth as former Tiger Avisail Garcia added a run with a 2 out single and was followed by a first pitch 3-run bomb by Matt Davidson to take a 9-1 lead. The Tigers waived the proverbial white flag in the 7th as they removed Cabrera, Kinsler, and Upton. Boyd and reliever Anibal Sanchez each gave up 5 runs on the day.
