Dodging a train is never as glamorous as it sounds.
Two women somehow avoided serious injury when they were run over by a train earlier this month outside of Bloomington, Indiana.
The women were walking along the railroad tracks over Lake Lemon when a train came toward them going about 30 miles per hour after coming out of a turn. The pair was too high to jump into the water below, so they decided to bow down on the tracks. They were separated from the train by a razor-thin nine inches.
Thinking the women had died, the train’s engineer contacted authorities to report the incident. Amazingly, the women managed to avoid any serious injuries. They have been identified and now face charges for trespassing.
A spokesman for the Indiana Rail Company said, “The consequences of trespassing on railroad-owned property are never taken seriously by those choosing to do so, and this incident at Lake Lemon is one of the most glaring examples I’ve seen in more than 40 years in this business.”
