$150-Million Amazon Distribution Center Coming to West Michigan
Our news partner, WZZM 13, is reporting that after months of speculation, a development project in Gaines Township has been confirmed as an Amazon sortation and fulfillment center.
Amazon is investing $150-million in the project which is expected to bring 1,000 full-time jobs with benefits to Kent County. The company also said they will offer employees 95 percent college tuition reimbursement.
The fulfillment center will be built on a 100-acre site owned by Steelcase, and is the first to be built in West Michigan. Amazon has built 3 centers in Detroit.
Amazon has invested $420-million dollars in Michigan and has created 4,000 jobs in the state.
