Several thousand people were without power early Tuesday morning in the Kalamazoo area.

According to Consumers Energy’s Outage Map, roughly 7,700 people lost power around 2am, mostly on the north side of Kalamazoo and into Kalamazoo Township. Consumers Energy tells 95.3 WBCK that severe weather damaged a power pole, partially bringing it down and knocking out the power; no injuries were reported, but Consumers does advise people to stay far away from any downed poles or wires.

A Consumers representative initially estimated power would be restored between 6 and 7am, but the Outage Map website now says power will be restored by 8am Tuesday.
