The investigation into a shooting that injured a Battle Creek Police officer Saturday is still considered active.

Police Chief Jim Blocker announced Monday that the charges are still pending against 30-year-old Andre Yarbrough, who was arrested Saturday afternoon after he fled on foot from a home on Cherry Street. Yarbrough is accused of shooting and injuring Officer Jeffrey Johnson when authorities attempted to apprehend him following a noise disturbance early Saturday morning.

An officer in the area heard children screaming and checked the home. The homeowner stated that everything was fine, but did spot Yarbrough in the background, who was wanted on multiple warrants.

Blocker announced that Johnson was released from the hospital Monday afternoon after sustaining three gunshot wounds. He is expected to recover fully.

Yarbrough is being held on the unrelated warrants and was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Calhoun County District Court. An arraignment for charges from the weekend incident could come as soon as Tuesday, December 3rd.

The investigation remains active in that others involved during the incident may receive charges.
