Battle Creek School Wants A Therapy Dog
Battle Creek’s Minges Brook Elementary is on a mission. It wants a school dog. Not just any dog. The school is looking for donations to help acquire a therapy dog. The idea is to allow students the opportunity to spend time with a trained therapy dog when they’re feeling anxious or stressed.
Two elementary schools in the Lakeview District have therapy dog help available for students, and the response has been good.
The costs are steep – up to $12-thousand dollars for securing a hypoallergenic dog and the required training.
Some area businesses will help out by participating in the local Small Business Saturday event tomorrow and will donate a percentage of the days profits to the cause. The Battle Creek Community Foundation plans to match that effort.
