The Historic "Blushing" water tower in Ypsilanti, Michigan has been comedic fodder for years. Looking at the picture, can you guess why?  Ypsilanti's water tower was built in 1890 at a cost of $21,435.63 and I'm willing to bet the men who built it had their jokes, just like comedians do today.

Wikipedia claims it has the nickname of "Poor Richard" because of its phallic shape. There is even a tongue-in-cheek urban legend that goes along with it jesting that the water tower will crumble if a virgin ever graduates from nearby Eastern Michigan University.

Cabinet Magazine even named it the most phallic building in the world.

For me, with my love of old buildings, it's on my list of places I want to see inside. Like the water tower at the Kalamazoo State Hospital that I managed to get into earlier this year.

Have you ever been inside this water tower? Let's see the photos and hear the stories.
