Born Yesterday at Kalamazoo Civic Theatre
The stage play that became a 1950 Judy Holiday comedy classic is coming to the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre. Born Yesterday is the story of street-smart ex-chorus girl Billie, her crude rags-to-riches junkman beau Harry, and a little trip to Washington, DC that would change their lives forever. Nervous that Billie is going to embarrass him in front of the DC elite, Harry hires a journalist, Paul Verrall, to help Billie brush up on current events. Suddenly a sponge with an insatiable hunger for knowledge, Billie soaks up everything Paul brings her way. While sparks are flying between tutor and pupil, Billie is also beginning to see Harry's "business deals" a little more clearly for the corruption it all is. Don't miss this 1946 treasure. Born Yesterday opens Friday, January 31st and runs through Saturday, February 15th. Tickets are available for both matinee and evening performances.
