Detroit Lions Score Major Win Off the Field

As part of celebrating their 100 years, the NFL created "Huddle for 100" and  is inviting fans, players, clubs and employees to volunteer 100 minutes of their time  to make a meaningful contribution to their communities. The Detroit Lions decided to center their Huddle event around food insecurity and hunger.

Today the Lions along with more than 500 volunteers from sponsor Kroger, hundreds of volunteers from the Lions corporate and community partners,  and season ticket members packaged over 50,000 boxes of food for families in need across Michigan. The special event was held at Ford Field.

Former Detroit running back and franchise legend Barry Sanders was on hand along with players, Lions cheerleaders, and even team owner Martha Ford. With over 1000 people attending the private event, the volunteer time will add up to a combined 100 thousand-plus minutes of service.
