Sometimes, simple gestures can go a long way.

Jill Metiva Schafer was leaving a rained-out game at Comerica Park on Wednesday night when she caught a heartwarming moment on camera - Detroit police officer Jeremy Thomas, helping a homeless man shave.

The man had been giving a "homeless handout" that included a razor, bottle of water and shaving cream from a stranger and her daughter just moments before, and he was attempting to use rain water from a puddle to shave.

Officer Thomas approached the man, who initially said that he would leave. Instead of asking him to leave, Thomas asked if he could help. The man had shaving cream on his clothes and eyes, so Thomas helped him to get a clean shave. And Jill caught it on camera and it's since gone viral.

WXYZ-TV Detroit caught up with Officer Thomas, and his quote really hit a nerve with us: "Just know that this could be you at any day. Nobody is better than the other person. They may be in a better position in life, but use that opportunity to take care of somebody else when you can."

AMEN AMEN AMEN!
