Do They See Their Image in Mirrors?
A big part of our political problems today is bias. People not caring what the facts are or unwilling to look at something objectively is driving our current political environment, driving it into the grave.
A perfect example occurred the other day on CNN. Democratic Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse was being interviewed on CNN’s New Day by Alisyn Camerota. They were speaking about the Graham-Cassidy Obama/Scotuscare repeal bill. Senator Whitehouse lambasted the bill for over a minute, stating the following:
For starters, you don’t protect pre-existing conditions when you allow states to deny coverage for pre-existing conditions, which this bill does. Second, [Cassidy] focuses only on the states that get money under his bill, not the ones like my state that have that money taken from them to give to the other states.”
He goes on to say:
It’s basically a raid on blue states and states that adopted the Medicaid expansion, to take money to those states. So it’s really unfair just to pick out those states and say that you’re winning.
He then even had the ability to say with no sense of guilt or remorse that one of the authors of the bill Republican Senator Cassidy was “factually misleading” in his representation of the bill.
Why do I say he had no sense of guilt or remorse, and I would go so far as to say he probably does not see his image in a mirror, because he was asked if he actually read the bill and he responded in the following manner:
I’ve seen reviews of it. I haven’t read the language of it
Might you say I do not believe you, Renk, no political leader can be that ignorant? Well click on the link to an article in the Daily Caller which has the video of that portion of the interview and see for yourself.
That is what is a big part of our political problems today, people spouting off on an issue without even bothering to take the time, in this case, to “read the bill”.
Senator Whitehouse is a perfect example of the trouble we are in, because this is who we have leading us.
Oh do not forget Michigan’s own genius, Democrat Congressmen John Conyers when he said:
I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill. What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?
That is what you get paid for Congressmen Conyers.
