They should impose this same rule on legislators as they do on doctors: First of all, DO NO HARM!.

If you think this is about gas taxes, nope. Wrong. Though it would apply, too. This about a stupid bill proposed by State Rep. Michele Hoitenga, of Manton. She wants to eliminate Daylight Savings Time.

What is the single best thing about living in Michigan? Endless nights that last until after 10pm at the peak of the start of Summer. I've lived in the Central Time Zone. Dark at 8:30pm and earlier. It's awful.

One of the arguments for it is that kids are tired after "spring forward". Well, ask anyone in the real world. What good are you doing kids if you don't prepare them for life. Unlike in school, they are not going to be catered to their whole lives. Ask anyone who is hiring these days. People coming into the work force have incredibly unrealistic expectations, and, they add, zero work ethic. Now obviously, that's painting with a wide brush, but I've heard it time and time again from those in all field of business. It's one hour, go to bed earlier for a few days. Your body will adjust.

Another argument for keeping DST is crime. Criminals like dark.

Also, afternoon drive is more dangerous that morning drive. The government even says DST would be safer for pedestrians, saving around 350 lives a year.

Remember when the legislature passed the bill starting school after Labor Day, to help the tourism industry? Well, now it's time for payback. Let's help the people who live here every day, and like it. Don't change Daylight Savings Time. Making it all year round would be a mistake as much as eliminating it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
