Sadly, the first big closing in Southwest Michigan has been made at The Local - Beer Cellar and Pizza Oven in Centreville have announced they'll be closing on Saturday, January 13th. The news comes after a slew of closings have been announced in Southwest Michigan towards the end of 2023, and seems to be the first large closing in the area of the new year

The owners, Dan and Jamie Templin expressed how much they learned and grew in the community after years of wild nights, fun times, and many ups and downs:

With hearts full of gratitude, we are announcing after nearly a decade of great business, The Local is officially closing its doors. Our last day of business will be Sat. Jan. 13th, 2024.
After the shocking announcement was made, they reflected on the last decade and the power the community had on them to help the restaurant thrive for 10 great years:
What a journey it has been. We opened in 2014 with not much more than a shoestring budget, a hope and a prayer, and zero knowledge of the industry. Because of all of YOU- we somehow not only survived, but The Local thrived. Through constant evolutions and many ups and downs over the years our incredible patrons and staff have supported us through it all. There are no words big enough to say how thankful we are to every one of you who stopped in for a meal, a drink, a celebration, a trivia Tuesday, a karaoke Friday, or picked up a pizza for family dinner over the years.
On Wednesday 1/10, Thursday 1/11, Friday 1/12, and Saturday 1/13, all beer, wine, and cocktails will be half off and will be serving food until they run out.
