Jeff Daniels’ Virtual Fundraiser for Kalamazoo State Theatre

One of Michigan's most famous sons is stepping up to help out the Kalamazoo State Theatre with an intimate virtual concert streaming directly from his home to yours, on Saturday, December 12th at 8:00pm. His one-man show is always delightful with songs, stories... an appearance by his Emmy statue. Definitely worth the $15 ticket price, especially when you consider that a portion of the ticket sales will go directly to the Kalamazoo State Theatre. The virtual experience will feature a Q&A following the show.

Being the Director of Marketing for a live theatre space cannot be the easier job right now, but I sat down with Harry Phillips from the State Theatre (the silhouetted guitar player from the most recent State on the Street) to find out a bit more about the show and just how The State got the opportunity to bring this show to Kalamazoo. Sure, he's performed at The State many times before, and no doubt loves the venue as much as we all do, but this is such a kind gesture. "I believe Jeff is trying to support local venues the same way Jim Brickman is," Phillips said. Daniels has his own live theatre space, the Purple Rose Theatre, in Chelsea, Michigan.

Again, some of the proceeds from each $15 ticket sold will go directly to support the State Theatre. However, there are many other ways you can support the State. "Come to State on the Street, purchase gift cards, purchase merch and most of all purchase tickets to our live streams," Phillips advised. "The live streams not only support us, but also some Michigan artists as well. We have the magic show, The Go Rounds and Last Gasp Collective coming up as well. All local. The Go Rounds and Last Gasp are performing live from the theatre."
