After months of speculation and rumors, it looks like Jeopardy has named Executive Producer Mike Richards as the show's permanent host, replacing beloved host Alex Trebek who passed away in November.

Deadline reports that Sony Pictures Television has given the nod to Richards who served as one of the quiz show's many fill-in hosts this season. 'Big Bang Theory' star Mayim Bialik, who also did a stint as guest host will serve as the host of a Jeopardy primetime spinoff series. That show will feature Jeopardy special features like the upcoming national college championships, in the works for next year.

Ken Jennings, who many thought was a lock as the permanent role as Trebek's replacement, will return as the show's consulting producer, occasionally appearing as a specialty clue presenter.

Ravi Ahuja, the Chairman of Global Television Studios says the show took finding a permanent replacement very seriously and that Trebek left incredibly big shoes to fill.

“We are thrilled to begin the next chapter of America’s Favorite Quiz Show with Mike hosting our daily show and Mayim hosting new versions of Jeopardy!

Richards praised Alex Trebek as he shared his gratitude for execs of the show.

“I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to host the syndicated version of Jeopardy!,” said Richards. “Alex believed the game itself and the contestants are the most important aspects of the show."
