They've been neighbors for a long time, but for the first time Kalamazoo College and Western Michigan University have signed a deal to streamline and give a head start to K-College students on a graduate degree. The agreement signed Tuesday will set up  "4+1 programs", a sped up route towards a master's degree for K-College students.. Essentially what the agreement allows is for K-College grads to apply some of their class credits towards a master's from WMU.

The first announced "4+1 program" will be in comparative religion. The hope is interest will increase and other programs will become available. The schools say details will have to be worked out between departments at both schools.
