Mangia Closing Restaurant, Focus on Food Truck, Catering Business
After over twenty years in downtown Kalamazoo, the owners of Mangia announced Monday they are selling their building to Radiant Church, thus closing the restaurant and shifting their focus to a food truck and to their catering business.
In a release sent Monday, MKB Mangia Kitchen and Bar owners, the Dacoba family, said,
We have entered into a sales agreement with Radiant Church, who recently purchased space above the restaurant. They shared with us the desire to expand even more, and after careful consideration, we agreed this was a good time to sell our space in the Milliner building, which includes Mangia Kitchen + Bar.
Emilio Dacoba says the family plans to "relocate and focus on our growing catering and food truck business." The release also says they have to plans to offer take home versions of theri pizza and various menu items.
Dacoba indicated part of the decision also was driven by a desire to "slow down a bit." Maria Dacoba added, "After many, many years of working long hours, nights and weekends, I am looking forward to focusing our business efforts on more catering and special attention to events. I look forward to spending more free time enjoying life as a mom, wife and daughter!
The restaurant business of MKB Mangia Kitchen will stay open into November, but the Dacobas plan to continue holiday parties and corporate events at the Kalamazoo Mall location going into December.
