  • Buffalo Billiards

    Washington, D.C.

    1330 19th Street NW

MGoBlog.com describes DC's Buffalo Billiards as "very Michigan friendly" and the place to go near Dupont Ciricle "if you want a big, raucous place that is packed with Michigan jerseys and usually the DC Alumni club....Get there early to get a seat and be prepared to burst into Hail to the Victors every time a touchdown is scored."

The video below shows the bar erupting following a U of M win in the 2013 NCAA basketball tournament.

A close runner-up bar in DC would be Ivy & Coney in the Shaw Neighborhood. It's slightly more Chicago than Detroit, but you'll find the taste of Michigan in its coneys and beer menu featuring Detroit's native Stroh's and Bell's from Kalamazoo.

  • Kezar Pub

    San Francisco

    770 Stanyan Street

Where's a Michigander to go in Northern California? The Flint Expatriate blog says Kezar's Pub on the outskirts of the famed Haight-Ashbury neighborhood is the spot. Both U of M and MSU sports fans will find a welcome but the bar is most known for an apporpirately rowdy Red Wings crowd, according to this commentor on MGoBlog,

I'm a huge fan of Kezar Pub.  Best wings in the city.  Good service, and a great "state of Michigan" bar -- the place to be for Red Wings games.

  • Diag

    Chicago

    2856 N. Southport Avenue

Yes those are U of M flags waving proudly in the heart of Chicago. Diag is all in when it comes to the University of Michigan, describing the Michigan Relationship on their website as

not just another bar that throws a Michigan Flag out and pretends to be a Michigan bar. We go above and beyond to make you feel as if you were in Ann Arbor on Saturday's!! Come once and you will never watch a game anywhere else, from our Michigan influenced menu, to our Michigan "M" on our beautiful patio, we are 100% Wolverines!!

  • Govnr’s Park Tavern

    Denver

    672 Logan Street

The Red Wings and Denver Avalanche once had one of the NHL's most heated rivalries. Would it surprise you to know that the Red Wings have a strong outpost in Avs territory? Govnr's Park Tavern on Logan Street is more Detroit than Denver.

The business generally has glowing reviews on Yelp with one negative being their chosen sports affiliation with one reviewer saying,

The only other thing I can knock about the place is that it's very Red Wings  friendly (Ownership is a huge Detroit fan), and as a die hard Avs fan, that is a no go here in Denver.

  • O'Malley's West

    Chicago

    2249 N Lincoln Ave

U of M isn't the only school in Michigan to be very well represented in the Second City. Michigan State Spartan fans congregate at O'Malley's West in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. In fact that's not just an MSU flag we spy in the photo below. Look at that Lions pride in the heart of Bears country.

What is O'Malley's West west of? The original P.T. O'Malley's pub on Abbot Road in East Lansing. When you see green at O'Malley's in Chicago it's not just the Irish themed decor.

Michigan State is so well represented in Chicago that the Lansing State Journal once listed several MSU-friendly bars in the city.
