For the second time in tournament history, the Detroit Red Wings prospects have won the Matthew Wuest Memorial Cup and the NHL Prospect Tournament.

I was lucky enough to see the game in person at Centre Ice Arena and it was a great game.   The game featured the Red Wings against a very consistent Dallas Stars team.   I got to watch The Stars play on Monday against Columbus and they looked like they were going to be a tough match up and were.

It was back and forth through out the entire game with the Wings hanging on for the 6-5 win.   Goals were scored by Givani Smith, who had probably the best goal of the game.

The goal was one of two goals scored by Smith.   Ryan Kuffner, Gregor MacLeod also scored.   The other two goals were from Joe Veleno, who had a fantastic tournament for the Wings.

I was impressed with his play and hope to see him with the Wings sooner than later.   I also enjoyed watching the Red Wings first round pick this year, Moritz Seider.

The win this year is only the second time they have won the tournament.  They last won it back in 2013.   Other teams on hand were Minnesota, Chicago, St. Louis, Toronto, Columbus and New York Rangers.

I enjoyed the two days I was there and hope I can go back next year and stay for the entire weekend.  Next up for the Red Wings is Training Camp which will be at Centre Ice beginning on Friday.
