Shipshewana on the Road Comes to Kalamazoo
For the first time in 2020, Shipshewana on the Road returns to the Kalamazoo County Expo Center offering handcrafted Amish furniture, gifts, specialty foods and more.
It has roots right here in Battle Creek. Shipshewana On the Road was founded in November of 1992 by Darrell and Julie Lepper when they decided to bring some dealers from the Shipshewana, IN outdoor market to the Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek, MI where they live. The outdoor market had long been a favorite place for people to shop, but because of the long drive, the short season (May through October) and the fact that it was only open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, many people were unable to attend. That first event was a success and has grownn to what is now 15 to 20 Shipshewana On the Road shows a year held in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.
Finished and unfinished pine furniture, handmade crafts, toys, home decor, handmade jewelry, cleaning products, clothing, homemade jams, jellies and cookies, 14kt. gold and sterling silver jewelry are just a few of the products you'll find at the event.
