Hint: It isn't in Detroit.

This finally opens the door for the renovations at the sports complex to take place.

The latest West Michigan school district to evolve to a new nickname for their athletic teams has come to a conclusion after the school board approved the move Monday.

As 2021 begins, the athletic teams at Saugatuck Public Schools will go without a mascot. With the help of the public and a small group of students in a selection committee, the new mascot should be announced by the end of February.

Another West Michigan school district is in the process of changing the name of their mascot after it will formally be retired at the end of 2020.

Several Michigan high school teams in Football, Volleyball and Girls Swimming and Diving were back to work on preparing for the remainder of their playoff seasons Monday. After practices Tuesday, another pause came to sports.

Several championships in the Michigan high schools ranks are still waiting to be lifted. As of December 7th, they will stay on the table and wait to be hoisted a little longer.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association football playoffs continue this week with the District Semifinals in the 11-Man ranks with five games involving area teams to kick it off.

Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Executive Order 2020-176. This order reopens Michigan's gyms and pools where they had remained closed.
