Tigers Drop Second Straight To Astros, 6-2
The Tigers are still looking for their first win, in their four game series with Houston. Things were looking eerily similar to Monday night, for Tiger hitters, as they recorded just a single hit, through the first six innings. However, Tiger Center Fielder, Mikie Mahtook cut the Astros lead to just one in the 7th, with a home run to left, scoring Victor Martinez. However, it didn’t take long for the Astros to douse that good feeling. Houston would answer right back in the bottom of the inning with two unearned runs for the 5-2 lead. The Astros would tack on yet another unearned run in the 8th, and go on to the 6-2 win.
In six innings of work, Jordan Zimmerman would give up 4 runs on 5 hits, two of those home runs. He walked 2 and struck out 3. Tiger hitters had just 4 hits in Tuesday night’s game.
With the loss, the Tigers drop 2 games below the .500 mark, for the first time this season, 21-23. The Tigers will get another crack at the Astros on Wednesday, and again on Thursday. Our Wednesday night matchup will be Daniel Norris(2-3 4.81 ERA) facing off against Astros’ starter, Charlie Morton(5-3 4.26 ERA). Coverage of Wednesday night’s game can be heard at 7:45, on 95.3 WBCK.
