The Kalamazoo Township man has been arrested in relation to a stolen snowmobile in Comstock Township, according to the Michigan State Police.

In a joint operation, Kalamazoo Township Police and Michigan State Police officers executed a search warrant following a report of a stolen snowmobile in Comstock Township. MSP responded to the call saying the theft had just occurred. Troopers followed the snowmobile tracks about 3 miles to a nearby residence in Kalamazoo Township. They also encountered a 41-year-old male, who they say was the homeowner.

Law enforcement then obtained a search warrant for the residence and the property. During execution of the warrant, officers located the stolen snowmobile concealed in the back yard of the residence. Also, during the execution of the search warrant, several long guns and ammunition were discovered, including a short-barreled shotgun. MSP says the suspect is a convicted felon and as such prohibited from owning firearms and ammunition.

The suspect was arrested and charged with the theft of a snowmobile, possession of stolen property, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and possession of a short-barreled shotgun.
