The National Cherry Festival is coming up this year from July 4th through the 11th, in Traverse City. It's tradition to have either the U.S. Navy Blue Angels or the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds perform at the Festival. This year you'll see the Blue Angels perform. When the Blue Angels come back next time - things will be different.

Next year, I'm assuming the Thunderbirds will be back for the Cherry Festival, but, in 2022, get ready for the new and improved Blue Angels - in new F-18 Super Hornets. According to TheDrive, the new F-18s (which will actually be older models of the Super Hornet but new to the Blue Angels team) will have more thrust available, meaning you'll see tighter maneuvers and better vertical performance. You'd be surprised at how much this will change the show. They actually have to work out the routine on flight simulators first to see what will work best in the new airplanes.
