"For nearly 100 years, the Mill defined manufacturing in Vicksburg by acting as a pillar of the community that impacted every aspect of life in the Village. Generations of families powered the Mill with their creativity and brawn. We’re celebrating that legacy by restoring the original grandeur and upgrading the buildings with cutting-edge improvements."

Truer words about The Mill have never been spoken. In 2014, it was saved from meeting its doom at the hands of a wrecking ball and for a while now, residents have claimed it to be a historical landmark. Now it seems that The Mill may be able to finally be restored and given new life. This morning The Mill At Vicksburg's Facebook page posted exciting news:

To our friends, neighbors, and community leaders,

We cannot properly express our gratitude for the overwhelming amount of time and attention you have given to The Mill, Paper City Development, and most importantly, the Village of Vicksburg, over these last several months. We’ve had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of you at events, meetings, and even through social media, and throughout this process, we’ve been reminded how truly special Vicksburg is—and it’s all because of YOU. There is a sense of pride and care that the citizens of Vicksburg have that is unmatched.

Regardless of your stance, we appreciate everyone who took the time to express your questions, comments, or concerns about The Mill. Without you, the Village Council would not have been able to make the best decision for the Village and Southwest Michigan. We are so excited to announce that the Village Council voted YES on the proposed zoning for The Mill. This is a critical step in the right direction, but there is still much to do. We still await a decision from the State of Michigan’s Strategic Fund about our Transformational Brownfield Plan that is critical for us to begin restoring The Mill past the emergency stabilization work we have completed to date. We will keep you up to date as things progress and will continue to share new developments, programs, and opportunities with this community as they happen.

Looking forward to many more milestones and memories to be made together!

Chris Moore & the Paper City Development team
