What’s The Coronavirus Virus?
Hundreds of cases of the Coronavirus have been reported, but the risk for spread in the United States remains low, this according to the CDC.
They may want to rethink that, though. Yesterday, reports were out that a case of the new virus was reported in the U.S. That patient was diagnosed and is recovering. Cases of this virus have spread in China and have also been reported in nearby countries in Asia.
Coronaviruses are a group of viruses that can cause a range of symptoms like a runny nose, cough, sore throat and fever, while others are more likely to lead to pneumonia. These viruses are usually spread through direct contact with an infected person.
The coronavirus gets its name from the crown-like spikes on its surface. The CDC says this illness has killed at least 6 and sickened hundreds. There is no specific treatment for the new virus and no vaccine to prevent it. Health officials say it is in the "very preliminary stages" of research to develop a vaccine to prevent it.
The good news, this does not appear to be the 'zombie virus' (I watch way to much The Walking Dead).
