The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs announced on Wednesday that they would be categorizing the drug Gabapentin as a Schedule 5 controlled substance.
These arrests are the culmination of a six month investigation into the trafficking of methamphetamine into Michigan; it’s alleged that over 400 pounds of meth was brought into the area from California over the past two years, with a large portion of that product being manufactured in Mexico.
Two people are in custody and Calhoun County detectives are working with several agencies after the discovery of multiple stolen identification cards along with stolen checks.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 300 block of East Leroy St. in Burlington around 7pm Monday after the front of a house was struck by a vehicle, a crash which caused significant damage.
Authorities say that the ring was in charge of a scheme to distribute and sell meth in west Michigan, and nearly 17 pounds of meth and five firearms have been seized as a result.
A series of busts in Kalamazoo over the weekend resulted in several stolen firearms being recovered. The KDPS asks those with information about these and other incidents to get into contact with them.
The County Commission met Tuesday night to discuss the possibility of joining the class action, which sees cities like Lansing and Detroit along with other Michigan municipalities suing drug makers and pharmacies.
