The Western Michigan Bronco hockey team picked up a big win Friday night, in the opener of a two game set against St. Cloud St., winning 6-2 at Lawson Ice Arena.

Six different Broncos lit the lamp for WMU in a game that was never in doubt. Paul Washe, Jared Kucharek and Hugh McGing scored the first three goals of the game in the first period, before St. Cloud managed a goal with just :12 second left in the opening period.

Wade Allison scored in the second to make it 4-1. Zach Okabe scored for St. Cloud midway through the third period to make it at least interesting, before two more Bronco goals put the game away.

The win puts Western seven points ahead of St. Cloud and only three points behind third place Denver University, and only four points behind powerhouse Minnesota-Duluth.

The same two teams got at it again Saturday night at Lawson.
