Governor Whitmer Bans Gatherings Larger Than 250 People In Michigan
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced a ban on gatherings over 250 people in Michigan.
The announcement comes after her previous move to close all K-12 schools until April 6th. The ban on gatherings goes into place starting today (Friday, March 13th) at 5:00 pm. Right now it is scheduled to lift at 5:00 pm on April 6th.
Governor Whitmer addressed the ban and talked about the reasoning behind it.
My administration will continue to do everything we can to mitigate the spread, and to ensure our children, families, and businesses have the support they need during this time. We are going to get through this, but we must be flexible and take care of each other
There will be some exceptions to the ban for industrial or manufacturing work, mass transit, and the purchase of groceries and other supplies.
I know that keeping people from being together in close quarters is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, but this is surreal. I think I've said this 100 times, that none of us have ever lived through time quite like this.
