Great News for Striking GM Workers

Striking UAW members received some welcome news as they walked the picket line this morning. General Motors reinstated health care benefits according to a letter distributed to members.

In a letter from GM Vice President Terry Sandefur, the company was concerned about the confusion surrounding its decision to cut  health insurance for striking workers on September 17th, just a few days after the strike started. The union's strike fund was covering the cost of premiums and copays for its members since then.

The strike has reached 11 days, but there are signs of progress with the small subcommittees negotiating details and turning things over to the main negotiators.

Let's hope this is a sign of good things to come.
