UPDATE 3:30 PM Tuesday 8/27/19:

Kalamazoo police are reporting that employees saw a male suspect armed with a handgun enter the bank just after 10:30 am, demanding money. During the robbery the suspect fired shots while inside the bank. Nobody was injured during the incident. The suspect left on foot a short time after entering the business. Officers searched the area but the suspect was not located. An unknown amount of cash was taken.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s approximately 6'0" with a slender build wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, black pants, dark colored gloves and had his face covered by a red and black bandanna. The suspect was armed with a silver handgun and left on foot. Officers searched the area but the suspect was not located. An unknown amount of cash was taken.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Kalamazoo police are investigating an armed robbery that took place at a credit union on the south side of the city Tuesday morning. WWMT reports that officers responded to the Omni Credit Union location on East Cork St..

According to authorities, at least two gun shots were fired during the robbery, but there were no reported injuries. The shots were apparently fired into the ceiling when the armed robber entered the branch. The suspect is said to have gotten away with an undisclosed amount of cash. No other details about the suspect have been made available at this time.

WWMT also reports that Millwood Middle School, which is located nearly six blocks away from the scene, was put on lock down when the robbery happened.
