High Speed Chase Through Calhoun County Ends In Arrests

Authorities in Calhoun County arrested two Chicagoans yesterday morning, after a high-speed chase on I-94.

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that around 10:30am Tuesday, a Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding in Sheridan Township. The deputy asked the driver to step out of the vehicle after smelling marijuana, causing the driver to take off at speed.

The chase started eastbound, turned westbound in Jackson County after the suspect vehicle left the highway and re-entered it, and reached speeds of over 125 mph. The chase eventually ended near Marshall when police put down stop sticks.

The driver, a 20-year-old Chicago man, was arrested on charges of fleeing police, possession of marijuana and driving without a license.  The 32-year-old female passenger was arrested on warrants out of Illinois.
