Lengthy Police Chase Through Battle Creek Ends With Guns Drawn

Very few details have emerged following an incident that began in Calhoun County's Emmett Township Sunday afternoon.

According to WOOD-TV, a police chase began at the intersection of North Raymond Road and Michigan Avenue at around 4:15 pm. Authorities were led through Battle Creek and eventually spanned two counties, covering over twenty miles. The chase is said to have ended at on M-37 north of Dowling in Barry County.

A witness told FOX 17 that the car may have ran out of gas, causing the chase to end. That witness also reported that police had approached the vehicle with guns drawn. An ambulance also was said to be at the scene where the chase ended but there were no reports of injuries. No suspect information has been released or any information on what may have caused them to flee.

Several crews had been called in to help Emmett Township police by the time it all ended, including deputies with the Calhoun and Barry County Sheriff's offices. Since the chase spanned two counties, the Michigan State Police are handling the case, but not much has been released as of Monday morning.
