Michigan Drive-Thru Employee Caught Using Customer’s Credit Cards
A McDonald's drive-thru worker was busted taking photos of customer's credit cards then shopping online with them.
According to the Buena Vista Police Department,
BVPD is currently investigating a credit card fraud case which involves credit cards used at the McDonald's on Holland. The suspect would take the credit cards used for payment at the drive thru window, take a photo of the front and back of the card then return it to the owner. The suspect then used the information on the card to make phone or online purchases illegally. Please be aware this is not an isolated incident. The suspect has been terminated from McDonald's and has been arrested and lodged at the Saginaw County Jail on Felony charges. Please make sure you are practicing good credit card safety and carefully review your credit card/debit card statements, especially during the holidays. If you find you are a victim of this contact Detective Yant.
When we enjoy the convenience of a drive-thru we all just expect that our credit card info is safe. Then this happens. But wait, this didn't just happen once or twice. The BVTP says this is not an isolated incident as the suspect is accused of taking photos of at least 50 customer's credit cards.
Lesson to be learned? Constantly check your credit card statements.
