The community that loves their pizza so much has helped the restaurant keep its doors open.

We told you a few weeks ago about Mitten Pizza in Middleville, near Grand Rapids and their massive electric bill. They were told by Great Lakes Energy that there had been a mistake on their end and the restaurant owed $19,000.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the owners pay off the bill and, as of this morning, more than $4,000 has been donated. And then, the owners got an email from Great Lakes Energy - they cut the bill in half and gave them a year to pay it.

The owners still say that they don't feel as though they should be responsible for the bill, but that this option is doable and much better than closing down.

"Things are really good, it's one of those things where if you take care of your community, they’ll take care of you back and that really proved itself tenfold."
