Science Says This Is Michigan’s Most Miserable Day
Long, dark Winter days seem to last forever in Michigan. Even the most chipper Michiganders can get a little down now and then. Be prepared- science says this is the most miserable day in the mitten state.
Sleepopolis looked at weather data from the last 35 years and calculated the day when average temperature and UV exposure are lowest. That day is January 10.
With sunrise at 8:10 and sunset at 5:29, the day will last 9 hours, 19 minutes and 9 seconds. The average temperature is 23 degrees on this date and UV exposure is low as sunlight is rare during Michigan Winters. All of these factors add up to make January 10 the most miserable day in Michigan.
So plan ahead; find ways to take care of yourself and each other. Call in sick, make your favorite meal, make time to hit the gym and sweat it out or hit the couch and binge-watch your favorite shows. Take care of each other and be sure to give people a break on a day when tempers may be short as misery is high in Michigan- it's the price we pay for living in a Winter wonderland.
