Multiple Crashes Close I-94 In Galesburg Area

I-94 in both directions has been shut down between mile marker 88 and 92 due to multiple crashes involving cars and semis.

Officials at this time say there have been fatalities but the number of those injured has not been determined.

Traffic is being diverted away from the interstate and drivers are being advised to take alternate routes that avoid the Galesburg/Augusta area.

Officials say emergency crews are being hampered in their efforts by exploding fireworks that were being hauled by one of the trucks involved in the crash.
