Rock & roll and life on the road is notorious for breaking up marriages but Pat Benatar and Neil Geraldo have made love last for 35 years and counting. The pair were married in 1982, the year Benatar's breakout album Get Nervous hit the record racks at Believe in Music stores all across Michigan. The band was touring then, too, and played Kalamazoo's Wings Stadium on November 27, 1982. From setlist.fm, here's what they played:
Treat Me Right
No You Don't
You Better Run
Anxiety (Get Nervous)
Fight It Out
Shadows of the Night
Heartbreaker
The Victim
Precious Time
I Want Out
In the Heat of the Night
We Live for Love
Promises in the Dark
Little Paradise
Having seen them at Meijer Gardens in 2015, I can tell you they are still playing at least 5 of those songs today. Pat's voice is nearly as strong as it always has been and Spyder is incredible on the guitar. But watch Neil watch Pat while she is singing and when he solos, watch her face light up. Even though they have been together more than 35 years each is the other's biggest fan and that's what makes this show special.
