Report: Detroit Tigers Narrowing Down Options For 2019 TV Crew
first major league exhibition game set for February 23rd, a report out of Detroit says the Tigers are narrowing down the choices for their new television crew for the 2019 season.
There is no shortage of analysts with a Tigers connection. Finding a good play by play announcer might be a bit more difficult. And one name with a possible home field advantage, his life became much more difficult after a serious Friday automobile accident.
Matt Shepard, who filled in ably after the Mario Impemba/Rod Allen relationship went kaput, was one of the names being mentioned, but with his wife needing several more surgeries, this may affect his plans for this Spring.
Tigers radio voice Dan Dickerson's name is another one prominently mentioned, but sliding Dickerson over to TV would simply create another hole, on the radio side. Several young possibilities have dropped out, choosing to stay with their current teams. If the Tigers do hire from outside the current local options, don't be surprised by the name Dom Orsillo. He was a popular Boston Red Sox announcer, unceremoniously dumped and has been doing San Diego Padres games recently.
