Portage's Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration will be held Saturday December 1 beginning at 6:00 p.m. The festivities will begin at the City Centre with holiday music and a tree lighting ceremony. Participants are welcome to join in with caroling then stroll down Bicentennial Trail behind a horse drawn wagon.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will greet children and hear their Christmas wishes at the Hayloft Theatre at the Celery Flats.

There will also be an appearance by Santa’s reindeer, an ice sculpture demonstration, the writing of letters to Santa inside the Schoolhouse, local musical talent performing traditional holiday favorites and complimentary desserts in the Grain Elevator. This is a free event and open to the public. The Portage Community Center will have hot chocolate and hot cider available for a $1 donation per cup. Food and clothing donations are also welcome.

Parking is available at the Celery Flats, Portage District Library, Portage Senior Center and Portage City Hall.
