Northbound US-131 was down to one lane for three hours after a tractor-trailer crash late Tuesday morning.

Portage Public Safety responded to the crash on the I-94 overpass just before 11am, after a semi had lost control and struck a guardrail. Extra crews were called in as roughly 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the highway, already wet from rain in the morning hours.

No one was hurt, but the 46-year-old Belmont man driving the semi was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated. He is awaiting arraignment at the Kalamazoo County Jail.

The highway was back open with both lanes operational around 2:30pm.
