It's a real mess in southeast Michigan today as the rain is causing major flooding on several major highways in the metro Detroit area. Residents and commuters were just dealing with this a few weeks ago, now it's happening all over again...

We've all seen the rain come down all weekend long, but a drive-by video taken from a passing vehicle in front of the Meijer store on South Westnedge in Portage, gives a stunning representation of just how much water has accumulated in the past few days.

In the 24 hour period ending 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon, Battle Creek recorded just over 3 inches of rainfall. That’s not counting the heavy rain from late last week.

The first major winter storm of 2020 is hitting much of the Lower Peninsula.

As the sun attempted to break through the clouds, West Michigan began seeing the damage left behind from nearly endless rain followed by flooding.

Along with daytime temperatures extremely colder than normal, heavy winds and rain are creating a very dangerous situation all along the Lake Michigan shoreline on the west coast of the state.

Several rounds of spring showers and thunderstorms have raised concerns for localized flooding.

On June 17, heavy rainfall caused flooding in Gogebic, Houghton, and Menominee Counties in the western Upper Peninsula.

The heavy rains that began Saturday have seen flooding return to the Kalamazoo area. A growing number of area streets and intersections are closed from the rain.

Floodwaters have finally receded in most of Southwest Michigan, but it’s now cleanup time. Many streets in Kalamazoo could have debris on them, and many homes and businesses also need to be assessed for damage.
