Tawas Point Lighthouse In NE Michigan Looking For Caretakers

Michigan has many lighthouses throughout the state.  One of those, Tawas Point Lighthouse is looking for people to live and take care of the lighthouse. 

According to the story from the Detroit News, caretakers are being sought by the lighthouse at Tawas Point State Park on Lake Huron in Northeastern Lower Michigan.

If you are selected you can spend 2 weeks in the structure between the months of May and October.  You are also asked to perform 35 hours of service each week.   Giving tours and greeting visitors at the lighthouse, maintenance and providing general information about the lighthouse.

Knowledge of lighthouses and Great Lakes history is preferred but not required.  If this is something you want to be apart of the application period is on now through February 2nd.  You can get more information on the Lighthouse and the keeper program at Michigan.Gov.

I personally had the chance to see this lighthouse back in August and enjoyed walking around the grounds.  I, unfortunately, didn't get a chance to take a tour inside.   If you are a fan of lighthouses and Great Lakes history this is something you should look into taking part in.
