Looking for a career helping the community? One with great pay, benefits, and a remarkable retirement package? There is a critical need for qualified police officers in our community and throughout Michigan. Kalamazoo Valley Community College is helping fill those vacancies through a 16-week Police Officer Training Academy. Applications will be accepted between April 6th and June 5th. The next academy is scheduled to begin on August 24th. Interested but need more information? Consider attending one of six upcoming information sessions at the Law Enforcement Training Center (Room A1020) on Kalamazoo Valley's Groves Campus on:

  • Wednesday, March 11th - 10 am and 6 pm
  • Wednesday, April 1st - 10 am and 6 pm
  • Wednesday, April 29th - 10 am and 6 pm

In these one-hour sessions, you'll get an overview of the training program, including cost and fee structure, academy rules and regulations, as well as the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES), curriculum and physical fitness tips. Director of Kalamazoo Valley’s Law Enforcement Training Center Victor Ledbetter boasts that graduates from the academy enjoy the highest employment rate in the state with a total of 92% of alumni employed. “I would encourage anyone thinking about a rewarding career in law enforcement to come and learn more about our program,” Ledbetter said.

Registration is required to attend the free information sessions. Please RSVP to Ledbetter at vledbetter@kvcc.edu or call 269.353.1260.
