Rugger's Up and Under, at 711 West Michigan Avenue is for sale.In a listing that just went up, the twenty year old establishment can be had for $1.2 million dollars. According to that listing,

The property features over 7,700 SF of entertainment space with 102 beer taps, full kitchen, outdoor patio, and is located on just under an acre, with 74 on-site parking spaces.

The sign along Michigan Avenue dates back to the eatery that preceded Up and Under, a Rax Roast Beef franchise, which ironically went under and was replaced by "Gati's Up and Under". Gati was the first name of a colorful Australian entrepreneur, DJ and rugby enthusiast who worked at The Warehouse (the former Whistle Stop), which is now the Arcus Foundation headquarters. Gati was the public face of the group that began the Up and Under phase in the early 1990's, which eventually became "Rugger's Up and Under". In the past decade plus, the building was added on to with the entertainment stage area and outdoor seating.

On the heels of the announcement the Great Lakes Shipping Company is closing, the sands of the ever-changing restaurant and bar business continue to shift in Kalamazoo.
