Good news/bad news: It's warmer (barely, though that's a poor choice of word) than the South Pole in Antarctica, but it is colder here than at the North Pole...by a lot.

Which do you want first? At the South Pole in Antarctica, the temps is around -24 degrees below zero. Our expected low tonight is almost that- -15 degrees below zero. So there's that. But...there's always a but. It is supposed to warm up there to -20 below zero.

And the bad news is, it's a lot warmer at the North Pole. The temps at the three closest reporting stations are, get a load of this: 28, 19, and 18. ABOVE zero. That's warm enough to break a sweat.

Back to the South Pole, there more good news and bad news there, too. Looking at the extended forecast, it's supposed to warm up to - 6 below zero this weekend. But the bad news is, after that, the thermometer is headed for -44 degrees below zero. So when it's 40 (above zero) here on Sunday with rain coming down, keep that in mind. It can always be worse.

The man below is Roald Amundsen, who led the first expedition to reach the South Pole, in 1911. The thought of that would put the same look on my face.
