You can be mad or you can agree, but either way, make sure you're informed.

We heard you loud and clear, everybody. You have questions, and we're here to give you the most concise answers that we can regarding the ban on flavored e-cigarettes that Governor Whitmer announced yesterday.

IS THIS A PERMANENT BAN?

No. It goes into effect in a month, so you have time to stock up. After that, it will be in place for six months and then up for renewal. No idea what will happen after that, of course.

CAN THE GOVERNOR BE CHALLENGED ON THIS?

Yes, she can. However, a spokeswoman for the Senate Majority Leader (who is from the opposite party of the Governor) has said that there will be no challenge. They "believe the governor is exercising the authority of her office properly; perhaps the health concerns and the impact on youth outweigh the argument for free trade.”

IS THIS AN EXECUTIVE ORDER?

No. It's an emergency administrative rule, which comes from the Department of Health and Human Services. Basically, it's a public health concern.

DOES THE BAN START RIGHT NOW?

Not yet. The Governor's announcement means that the rule process is beginning.

WHAT ARE THE EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE?

The ban does NOT include tobacco products. It's mainly targeting the sweet and fruity flavors that are marketed towards younger users.

CAN I STILL BUY THEM TODAY?

Yes. Everything you could buy yesterday is still in stores today.
