It's always good news/bad news when we start talking hunting season in Michigan.  The good news is it's hunting season.  The bad news is summer is almost over.  But that's Michigan right?  This weekend, for instance is the Liberty Hunt which is for youth and disabled hunters and is officially the first deer season of the year. As the traditional hunting calendar begins there are some rule changes that you may or may not know about.

The folks at 9and10news.com have some of that info to pass along.  The biggest rule change this year is that baiting is banned in the lower peninsula but food plots are still allowed for hunters.  There are also changes to a section of the chronic wasting disease area.  Montcalm, Mecosta and Ionia counties also have antler point restrictions for a research project to see the impact on the spread of the disease.  For more on the rule changes click HERE.
